A sweet Spanish style historic home in the San Marino neighborhood of Pasadena got a makeover for a newly engaged couple. Original elements were preserved while distasteful 90s touches were removed. The assigned functionality of spaces and layouts of rooms were reconfigured: the kitchen moved to the former dining room, the former kitchen became a pantry and dining nook, a bedroom became the main bath and walk-in closet. It was  pure joy to add refined traditional details to the cleaner look and choose a muted tonal palette of Old World inspired materials for the home to feel rooted in its past while accommodating the couple's future needs.
