Playa Vista Residence I

A generic builder grade new construction home in the community of Playa Vista was transformed into an ultra special showcase for the luxe bohemian family that lives there. Great care was taken to layer neutral colors and natural textures with global accents of indigo, black, and gold. The only patterns incorporated into the space were of a tribal origin.

A balance between a youthful nod to midcentury modern, use of edgy industrial and salvaged materials, and traditional sensibilities were tightly maintained to create a comfortable, open, bright and mellow home.  The scope included custom millwork design throughout the 3 stories (even a hidden murphy bed in the playroom!), sourcing all the furnishings and decor, hardware, wallpaper and lighting installation, and the construction of the fireplace surround and mantel. Salvaged wood was used where possible, from bedroom headboards to the mantel to the master bathroom mirror. In a word, breathtaking.
