I made it to the Long Beach Flea Market this past Sunday and it was a fruitful trip. I got there earlier than usual and I felt like everyone was speed walking and power shopping to beat out the competition. Which made the visit more thrilling and my buys felt more precious. My haul included a Mexican serape blanket with the best color combinations, a beautifully waxed mini library catalog, a bentwood wicker stool, a travel clock, and some cute white dishes. I haggle on everything of course to get a good price.
There was a lot of chintzy kitch but a good representation of mid-century and industrial style finds. I like the Long Beach Flea market better for its smaller size and reasonable pricing, er...haggling.
I don't know why but I always get tempted to buy these rad bohemian vintage dresses there. Thinking somehow I'll get to wear them. Don't worry, it didn't happen.
I did let this carved wood go. I just couldn't do $35, but it is a nice sculptural piece.
