Another Bedroom Update
I can't leave well enough alone, now can I? I do believe in continuous incremental improvements, the Japanese kaizen way. Every room in the house gets this treatment and my bedroom usually gets the laser focus version. Nothing big and scary here. The bed, dressers, rugs didn't change.
But I did finally make a custom foam cushion for the weird gap between the mattress and the wall. Why did I wait so long? All it took was giving the dimensions and the fabric to a custom foam shop and a week later it was done. No more pillows falling back there and looking messy.
I'm super obsessed with bedding lately. When I swapped out the duvet cover for the blush Cultiver linen, I also threw out the insert that Alec brought along with him 11 years ago (!) and upgraded to a premium down insert from West Elm instead. Again, why did I wait so long I do not know. AND I threw out the pillows that we bought when we started dating (12 years ago!) and upgraded to Sleepgram pillows which are sublime and wonderful and I can change the softness or firmness. I'm sleeping much better now.
In the corner of the room I swapped out the chair to an original vintage Ligne Roset Togo chair I scored off Craigslist. I have wanted one for so long and when it came up, I pounced. The only problem is that the tan corduroy is pretty beat and I thought recovering it (in olive velvet) would be a breeze. But I have reached out to 4-5 different reupholsterers and no one is biting.
For now I'm strategically covering the worn bits with the sheepskin and pillows. I also paired it with the new rattan ottoman from Target. A super quick upgrade was spray painting an existing colorful mobile I had to matte black, to complete the chic modern boho reading corner.
I kaizened my way through this room and for the time being it feels complete and optimally styled. I have some ideas about the next rooms I'm going to tackle in my home.
