Mid City

The owner had been living in her historic 1920's Spanish style home for over 30 years. It was time for a complete renovation of the kitchen and bathrooms. Along with painting, new French doors, and refinishing original peg and groove wood floors. A slight floor plan reconfiguration resulted in a new laundry area off the kitchen and creating a powder room out of a previous closet. The kitchen opening was widened to a generous arch to connect the cooking areas to the existing dining room. Plastered beams, plastered hood surround, and plaster main bath walls felt appropriate along with squared door openings turned to arches. Playful tile and wallpaper were incorporated throughout the newly refreshed spaces to reflect the owner's personality. The update offers clean lines and luxurious materials working within the context of the home's existing architecture and period details.

A troubled build over and through the pandemic proves that a timeless design will not feel outdated as trends come and go. Completed 2023.
